SHORT-STAY VISA FOR REMOTE WORKERS

Given the current labor dynamics that are experienced worldwide, the Government of Panama has launched a new immigration sub-category, within the Non-Resident category.

Executive Decree No. 198 of May 7, 2021.

This new visa can be applied to by foreigners who work remotely, within Panama for a period of 9 months, which can be extended once more for the same period of time.

To apply for the Remote Worker Visa, the applicant must have a work contract with a transnational company or be a self-employed worker, the functions of the job performed must take effect abroad, must receive income from a foreign source for an amount not less than USD 36,000.00 and must have an insurance policy that has coverage in the Republic of Panama.
